Julian Opie

Julian Opie is a British artist that uses computerised imagery.  He was born in London in 1958.  his work became popular when he was asked to create an album cover for the British band Blur.  his unique style of art allows his work to look simple yet, sophisticated.  Opie uses a range of colours which makes his work look more interesting. Opie uses simple colours and shapes for the main features like the eyes, nose and mouth!

David Hockney

David Hockney born on 9th July 1937 is an English artist most recognised for his landscape work as well as joiners.  I found him very interesting to research due to his art work being so unique and exciting.  His use of colour also captured my attention.

Seeing this work had inspired me to create my own version of his work 'joiners'.

Ipod

Apple used a number of advertising methods to promote their products; one of them being TV advertising.  a unique style they  had used was silhouettes.  the company had decided to use dancers, but instead of the same, boring way of showing people, they had decided to show them as silhouettes; each dancer modeled an Ipod.  the brightly coloured background and the silhouette of the dancer allowed the 'white' ipod to stand out tremendously which made the product being advertised to be seen clear by the audience.

These are examples of the adverts.  this had inspired me to create my own.

Pixel art

Pixel art is the form of art through the use of graphics software. Pixel art mostly exists in old games and phones.  An example of a company which specialises in pixel art is Shynola.  I have researched pixel art and found a number of images as well as videos and have been inspired enough to create my own images.  I began by writing my name, then drew i an apple which allowed me to experiment with an odd shape.  I finally moved on to a more challenging image, which was to draw a self portrait.

I experimented with shape, colours and shade until i was happy with my finished product.
Along with creating a self portrait i also animated my picture using Adobe Photoshop.  By creating new layers i managed to include different facial expressions.

Self Portrait
Overall i enjoyed this project as it was different to what i would normally do, and my first time creating my own pixel art.
